We’ve always loved doing activities and classes with our children. We remember when they finally became old enough to enrol in a class! It got us out and about and gave us great ideas for interacting and playing with our little ones. We really enjoyed the company of other parents and the classes were beneficial for our children too.
When choosing a class each parent will have different ideas of what they’re looking for and what area/s they want their child to develop. Above all, we like for our little ones to have fun and enjoy themselves! Here are some activities ideal for up to 2.5 years.
This guide is specifically for children under the age of 2.5 years. If you have an older child you may like to check out our general Activities and Classes Guide here.
THE LITTLE GYM
The Little Gym is about more than running, jumping, rolling (forwards, backwards and everywhere) and having fun. The program is specially designed to create fun and special memories where it will help your child channel their boundless energy and reach developmental milestones in a structured and nurturing environment. Life lessons will be learnt which will boost your child’s confidence at home and school along with being able to focus and cooperate in group settings that can be challenging for some. At The Little Gym, shy kids gain confidence, and confident/active kids, learn patience and control. Each child is given the opportunity to practice and progress skills at their own level all in a way that they enjoy most!
The Little Gym classes focus on three KEY areas!
Get Moving – encouraging exercise through gymnastics which assist flexibility, strength, balance and coordination.
Brain Boost – nurturing listening skills, following instructions, concentration and decision-making.
Citizen Kid – promote sharing, teamwork, cooperation and leadership abilities.
The Little Gym runs classes based on smaller and more specific age groups in order to carefully tailor the content and skills to match the appropriate milestones for the children. For children under 3 we run parent/child classes which promote early development and provide a strong foundation for your child’s critical first three years. These classes are broken up into:
- Bugs (4-10 months)
- Birds (10-18 months)
- Beasts/Super Beasts (19 months – 3 years)

ABILITY 2 LEARN
The ‘Ability 2 Teach’ program recognises parents as their children’s first and most significant educators and we aim to enrich this connection. This class nurtures toddlers’ sense of wonder and encourages them to persevere with challenging tasks.
Classes provide an extensive variety of rich, stimulating and challenging activities in the areas of literacy, numeracy and science.
Stretching beyond education, children will build skills in the cognitive, physical, language and social and emotional domains as they are encouraged to learn about themselves and grow as individuals.
Learning activities are open-ended to enable each child to actively complete tasks, develop their own thinking and skills as they encounter new ideas and solve problems. Early childhood tutors offer positive guidance to extend their thinking and support their development and progression.
We invite you to take advantage of our complimentary class and join us for a personal experience.

LITTLE KICKERS HILLS DISTRICT
Little Kickers teaches fundamental football techniques and elementary life skills in a vibrant, group play environment. Children can start as young as 18 months old.
We have four different football classes each tailored to a different age group. However, we have two core beliefs that we take into every session.
Firstly, we believe in something we call “Play not Push”. It means teaching football in a fun, pressure-free environment. We want to give children a positive introduction to sport as a whole, not just football, so they’re more likely to stay healthy and active throughout their lives.
Secondly, we believe football can be educational. Coached in the right way it can stimulate imagination and aid early development skills such as learning colours and numbers, following instructions, and playing as a team.
We are a non-term program, you can join at any time!! (subject to availability)
Special offer: For all new enrolments, just mention Hills District Mums at the time of enrolment and you will receive a FREE pair of Little Kickers Socks!
