The Hills Council Community Fun Day, Sunday 16 September, 12pm to 7pm

Council’s Community Fun Day at Bella Vista Farm will include eight zones that attendees will have the opportunity to explore. Each zone promotes activity and play, and allows attendees to meet like-minded people, groups and learn about their local community and how they can get more involved.

Splash Dance will also be there to keep the kids entertained, while Hype Band has some exciting rock/pop acoustic renditions planned for the event. Enjoy a range of activities including a petting zoo, amusement rides, silent disco and kids cooking classes and don’t miss the fantastic fireworks finale!

The Hills Schools Expo showcases leading independent schools serving Sydney’s north-west and Hills District. At the expo parents and families will be able to discuss their child’s specific educational needs with principals and teaching staff from many of Sydney’s best independent schools. Cooking demonstrations at Parklea Markets. Sunday 16 September. 11am & 1pm.

Be inspired by the fresh produce at Parklea Markets with two days of cooking demonstrations with Masterchef 2013 contestant and mother of two Christina Batista! On Sunday 16 (and Sunday 23 September), Christina will be hosting two FREE cooking demonstration sessions with easy main dishes and desserts!  And each session attendee will receive the recipes to recreate the dishes at home.

No bookings are required but seating is limited (standing room available). These great cooking demonstrations are being held in the newly created Parklea Kids Zone near door 7. Parking is free.

  • Session 1 at 11am – Minestrone soup with easy meatballs
  • Session 2 at 1pm – Rhubarb and strawberry tart with chantilly cream.


Jazz At The Pines. Sunday 16 September. 12.30pm to 4pm.

Enjoy an afternoon of live jazz within the grounds of the historic Roughley House at Dural, bring your picnic and relax under the beautiful pine trees. The Art of Bonsai. Friday 14 September and Saturday 15 September from 10am to 5pm to Sunday 16 September from 10am to 4pm.

This year’s Bonsai Exhibition has something for everyone and includes a great display and well-stocked bonsai market. The exhibition also includes a build-a-bonsai workshop for the young and young-at-heart. Plus a clinic where attendees can bring their own trees for advice and help with improvement and maintenance. Castle Hill Showground.
