Be a Farmer for a Day at Golden Ridge Animal Farm. Friday 12 October, Saturday 13 October and Sunday 14 October.
Get your hands dirty on the farm and have a day you won’t forget. Golden Ridge Animal Farm is open every day in the school holidays. A standard visit to the farm follows a path of activities – holding baby animals, walking around the farm feeding and seeing the larger farm animal varieties, milking the cow and bottle feeding the baby lambs and goats. The Be a Farmer for the Day events are extra special. You get full access to the farm and get to visit any animal whenever you like, fully supervised by one of our farmers. You can visit the Lifeline Giant Book Fair at Oakhill College Castle Hill on Friday 12 October, Saturday 13 October and Sunday 14 October, open from 8am to 5pm both days. This book fair is HUGE. They will have tens of thousands of books in as-new and near-new condition. All funds raised support the vital services Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury provides for our local community – so help a good cause while grabbing your next great read!

Galston Valley Railway Open Day. Sunday 14 October, 9.30am – 3pm.
Run by the Hornsby Model Engineers’ Co-operative, Galston Valley Railway is an amazing and unique experience, particularly if you have a train fanatic in the family! It’s a miniature railway with a main line length of about 1km running through a picturesque bush setting, with a mix of steam and diesel trains. And it’s right here in the outer Hills, although you’d never know from simply driving past! We love it – you can read more here. 29 Mid Dural Road, Galston. School holiday activities running over the weekend
- Castle Towers. Slide into fun at The Play Pool! Check out the a fun ball pit filled with pool toys, shapes, beach balls and more. It’s the perfect place for fun and selfies, so come and join the pool party. Suitable for children aged 4-12 years. Tuesday 2 October to Sunday 14 October. 10am to 4pm (open until 8pm on Thursdays).

- Carnival on Main Street. Jump right in with a carnival in Main Street! Tea cups, lady bugs, bungee trampolines, fairy floss & more. Friday 5 October to Sunday 14 October. 10am to 1pm. Ride $5, 3 hour wristband $30.
- Plaster creations. Enjoy creating and painting a HUGE range of 3D figures. Monday 1 October through to Sunday 14 October. From $5.
Earn Your Tucker at Rouse Hill House and Farm. Sunday 14 October. 10am to 12pm.
Help feed the chickens, collect the eggs, grind the corn, make the butter and pump the water. At the end of the program, you’ll sit on the verandah for some well-earned tucker! Below is a list of the main activities:
- Pump the water and grind cereal grains, and then feed it to the chickens before collecting their eggs.
- Learn how to do the egg test to make sure your egg is fresh.
- Churn the butter on the verandah, washing off the buttermilk and patting the butter into shape, before taking it home.
