What’s not to love about Christmas? Santa, carols, lights and joy! And we can’t begin to tell you how many times mums post in the Hills District Mums Facebook group questions such as, “Where can my family go for great carols?, “Where are the best Christmas lights in the Hills?”. So we’ve pulled together the HDM Ultimate Guide to Christmas in the Hills!
We’ve done our best to capture everything and make sure it’s correct, but if you’d like to add to it or you think it needs an edit, let us know. We’ll be rolling this baby out for the whole of the Christmas period!

Celebrate the Silly Season is a chance to get out and about with other HDMs and will be held on Wednesday 22 November from 6pm to 9pm! Lighting of the tree ceremony, Rouse Hill Town Centre, Thursday 23 November from 5pm. Celebrate the spirit of Christmas at the Annual Lighting of the Tree Ceremony in Town Square Rouse Hill Town Centre. Featuring PJ Masks, this night will be filled with entertainment and will conclude with the lighting of their Christmas tree and a spectacular fireworks display. Festivities commence from 5pm.
Blacktown Christmas Light it Up Concert, Thursday 23 November 6pm-9pm. Ben and Holly Show, Christmas Carols, Kids Christmas show, free face painting, Santa Clause and at 8.45 pm, the iconic Christmas Tree will be lit up, showcasing it’s fairy light and decorations.
Christmas in Parramatta, Thursday 30 November from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. FREE event bursting with activities and entertainment for all the family. Star-studded entertainment, PJ Masks, arts and crafts workshops, virtual reality rides, Santa, Doggie Rescue puppies, a giant interactive Christmas Tree, Carols by Candlelight, a fireworks finale and more!
Breakfast with Santa at North Rocks Shopping Centre, Saturday 25 November. Meet Santa and his special friends. Kids enjoy breakfast, a show and every child receives a gift. Cost – $5 per child. 7.45am arrival and 8.00am start. Make your booking at the Customer Service Desk.
Launch of Christmas at Hillsong. Everyone is welcome, so head along and bring your friends and family to join all the festivities including lighting of the Christmas Lights + Fireworks! Sunday 26 November from 6pm at the Hillsong Sydney Hills Campus, 1-5 Solent Circuit Baulkham Hills.
Hills Illuminate. Rouse Hill Town Centre and the Hills Shire Council have joined forces to bring something magical to the Hills! From Thursday 7 December to Saturday 23 December, you can experience an interactive immersive light spectacular – think Vivid with a twist! The centre will launch it with a special party – see below.
Hills Illuminate Launch Party, Thursday 7 December. Join Rouse Hill Town Centre for the unveiling of this iconic new event. Countdown to the magical moment when the installation for the very first time and #LightUpTheHills. The massive cube-like installation will be the heart of a pop-up precinct in Market Square, however there will be plenty more to see and do at the opening event. To mark the occasion they have some amazing family friendly live entertainment, a magical Pyrotechnics display and street festival style food trucks. Entertainment from 6pm with the countdown to the light shows launch at 8:30pm. Market Square Rouse Hill Town Centre (opposite Reading Cinemas).

Santa’s arrival at Seven Hills Plaza, Saturday 2 December, 10am – 11am. Santa will be arriving in style with a host of Christmas characters and the Seven Hills Plaza Christmas band. Join Santa’s friends as they roam the centre, ready to welcome Santa to Centre Court for the annual Santa Photos. There will also be ballooning and face painting from 11am – 1pm to celebrate Santa’s arrival.

Christmas in the Piazza at Castle Towers. Take a break from Christmas shopping and pop into The Piazza where you’re sure to get into the festive spirit. The Piazza will come to life with FREE Christmas entertainment every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night in December from Thursday 7 December between 7pm and 8pm to help to set the mood. Enjoy the big Christmas tree at the entrance to The Piazza which is perfect for some family snaps.
Stay n Play at Castle Towers. They’ll take care of the kids while you take care of the shopping! Starts Monday 11 December through to Sunday 24 December. 10am to 2pm daily. First hour free, second hour $5. Kids will be entertained with arts and crafts, toys, dress ups and books. Maximum 2 hour stay.
Christmas in the Hills, Wednesday 13 December at Bella Vista Farm Park. Beginning at 4pm with markets and games, followed by carols from 7 – 9pm. Christmas in the Hills concludes with a spectacular fireworks display. Tickets $5 if purchased prior to the event. Kids under 2 free.

In the week of 12 December, the Hills Shire libraries (Vinegar Hill Memorial, Castle Hill Library, Dural and Baulkham Hills) will be holding special Christmas Storytime sessions suitable for ages 2-5 years.

Christmas Carols Spectacular at Hillsong Convention Centre, various dates and times starting Friday 15 December to Sunday 17 December. Every year, over 45,000 people across Australia attend their annual Christmas Carols Spectacular. A theatrical production with film, song, dance and a visit from Santa! Tickets are only $5.
Northmead Community Carols, Friday 15th December, from 6:30pm. Northmead Anglican Church, Thomas St Northmead. Sausage sizzle, face painting, jumping castle, glow sticks, puppet show and more.

- Baulkham Hills Santa Run – starts at Merindah Road Baulkham Hills at 6pm. And concludes in Magnolia Avenue around 8.30pm to 9pm depending on traffic and crowds.
- Castle Hill Santa Run – starts at Warwick Parade Castle Hill at 6pm. And concludes in Camberwarra Avenue at Castle Hill around 9pm depending on traffic and crowds.
- Kellyville-Bella Vista Santa Run – starts at Kings Road Castle Hill/Kellyville at 6pm. And concludes in Crestwood Drive around 8.30pm to 9pm depending on traffic and crowds.

Santa’s Sleigh Run in North Rocks is bought to us by the Rotary Club of North Rocks. They split the suburb into East and West and traditionally kick off the run at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve Sunday 24 December.
Christmas Lights at Hillsong, from 26 November to 25 December starting from 7.30pm. Hillsong Church Baulkham Hills.
Hunter Valley Christmas Lights Spectacular. Bit further afield but runs from 3 November 2017 to 27 January 2018.
