How to Avoid a Kitchen Renovation Nightmare:

  • Trap 1: Spending too much: Kitchen companies will pump up the price if they know you won’t question it. Always ask for an itemized quote.
  • Trap 2: Spending too little: Unskilled, unlicensed, and uninsured contractors will under-cut other quotes to win the job. When the job goes bad, they suddenly disappear!
  • Trap 3: The surprise bills: The new kitchen comes in just under your budget! Perfect, right? No. Later they say “Oh, you need this too”… blowing way past your budget.
  • Trap 4: The hard seller: Using high-pressure tactics to manipulate you into making a decision on the spot. Ugh!
  • Trap 5: Doing it yourself: There’s every chance something will go wrong, which could cost you even more money to fix.

How to compare kitchen quote apple to apple:

  1. Make sure you have received the 3D designs with your quotes
  2. Make sure all designs have included the same number of cabinets
  3. Make sure all designs have included the same number of drawers
  4. Make sure that you have received itemized quotes this means you have received separate pricing for benchtop, splashback, plumbing work, electrical work, and any bulkhead or cornice work.
  5. Make sure all quotes are using Australian made boards
  6. Make sure all quotes have specified HMR (high moisture resistant) particle board carcass and MR (moisture resistant) MDF doors
  7. Make sure all quotes have specified the cabinet door brand, color and finish
  8. Make sure all quotes have specified brand and type of drawers and hinges
  9. Make sure all quotes give the same type of accessories like lazy susan, integrated bin, Warri corner, cutlery tray, spice/oil rack etc…
  10. Make sure all quotes have specified benchtop type, brand and color
  11. Make sure all quotes have specified splashback type, brand and color
  12. Make sure all quotes have specified how many power points allowed, reface of power points, moving PowerPoint, and any hard wiring is allowed or not
  13. Make sure all the company is giving same warranty and guarantee on workmanship, board material, and hardware

Could not be happier with our kitchen and butlers pantry from AJB Kitchens. Exceptional quality at a very competitive price. Very professional and experienced staff who took pride in their work and were a pleasure to deal with. Transparent process from start to finish. We were creating a kitchen from scratch, no existing footprint to start from. We were given great practical advice and they worked to our budget. No false promises- delivered what they said they would when they said they would. A very positive stress free experience. Cannot recommend this company highly enough to anyone wanting a new kitchen.

AJB Kitchens turned my dream kitchen into a reality. My husband and I cannot say enough about the way our renovation went. PK and Frank came to our home, took measurements, and listened while I shared my vision for my kitchen. In a couple of days, we had a quote. In a couple more days, I went to their showroom and picked out what I wanted. PK, their designer, listened to me and helped me find my perfect cabinets, splashback, and benchtop. All trades who came to do their part of the job, from the demolition to the final completion, were absolute perfectionists. We were amazed by their workmanship. When the job was finished, I could not keep from jumping for joy and squealing. They also stuck to the budget. It was the best experience we have ever had doing a renovation. We will use them again anytime. They also gave us good advice for replacing our flooring and painting. All the trades worked hard and were so friendly. I just want to thank PK and the team at AJB Kitchens, for the amazing Hampton Kitchen I'm now happily cooking in. Having never renovated before I was nervous, PK was amazing he listened to my vision and helped design for my beautiful kitchen. I have wine racks, drawers, and pantry with massive amounts of storage. Every step from designing to receiving the quote, organizing the trades was made so simple. Nothing was too much trouble; everything was explained to me and I was kept updated every step of the way. I can honestly say there would be no one I would recommend more than AJB Kitchens. AJB Kitchens did such a fabulous job designing and organizing my kitchen and floor renovations. The tradesmen were amazing and the timeline that AJB Kitchens created was an asset for me. I knew what was happening at all times and it certainly made my life a lot easier.
