Sydney Psych Hub and Youth Psych Hub will again be running the Cool Kids ‘Chilled’ Anxiety Group Program for students in grades 7, 8, 9 and 10 starting Term 2 on Thursday 27 April.

The Chilled Group helps teens learn practical skills to manage stress and anxiety and the common challenges that arise during adolescence.

The Chilled Group is a structured 10 session program developed by Macquarie university and is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Research indicates that most young people who complete the program show significant improvement in areas such as school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extracurricular activities and decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.

The Chilled program also has a parent component that equips parents with skills on how to support their child through anxiety.

This program is supported by Medicare, and with a GP referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
