Sydney Psych Hub in Castle Hill is running the Cool Kids Anxiety Group Program for children aged 8-12 years again in term 3. The group will be facilitated face-to-face commencing Thursday 20 July.

The group’s objective is to help kids learn practical skills to manage stress and anxiety and the common challenges that arise during childhood.

The Cool Kids program is a structured 10 session program developed by Macquarie university and is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Research indicates that most young people who complete the program show significant improvement in areas such as school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extracurricular activities and decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.

The Cool Kids program also has a parent component that equips parents with skills on how to support their child through anxiety. This program is supported by Medicare, and with a GP referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
