In Term 4, Sydney Psych Hub psychology clinic in Castle Hill will run the Cool Kids Anxiety Group Program for kids aged 8 to 12 years. Over 10 weeks, accredited psychologists will teach kids practical skills to manage stress, anxiety and the challenges that arise during childhood.
The program consists of a 1 hour group child session, then 30 minutes is spent with the parents to equip them with skills on how to support their children through anxiety.
Research indicates that most young people who complete the group show significant improvements in areas such as school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extracurricular activities, with decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress. This program is supported by Medicare and with a GP referral, you may be eligible for a rebate.
