Looking for something to do with older kids at the end of the Spring school holidays? Adelaide comedy magician Sam King is bringing his show Tricks & Stuff to The Regent Theatre in Richmond for four shows only, 8 to 11 October at 4:30pm, as part of the first Sydney Festival of Magic & Illusion. It’s rated PG and best for ages 10 and up.
Tricks & Stuff is an hour of comedy magic with blenders, socks and Snickers bars. It’s magic gone slightly sideways. Sam is a two-time winner of Best Magic at the Adelaide Fringe (2022 and 2024) and has taken the show to sixteen countries, including the Edinburgh Fringe. Back home he runs the Adelaide Magic Theatre, which has more than 100 five-star reviews from audiences.

It’s silly and a bit cheeky but never scary, and parents tend to laugh as much as the kids. Because it’s pitched at ages 10 and up, it’s probably not one for the little ones.
The Thursday and Friday shows are the last two days of the school holidays, and the Saturday and Sunday shows are the last weekend before Term 4. Richmond is about 25 minutes up Windsor Road from Rouse Hill, there’s street parking around the theatre, and the show finishes at 5:30pm, right on dinner time.
