If you’ve been waiting for the fences to come down at Edward Bennett Park Playground in Cherrybrook, the wait is almost over.
After a major makeover, the popular district playground officially reopens on Friday 14 August 2026, and from what we’ve seen, it’s definitely worth a visit.
The upgraded playground features an impressive new climbing tower complete with slides, climbing ropes and plenty of opportunities for adventurous kids to test their skills. There is also a smaller slide module for younger children. There are also five swings, interactive play equipment, monkey bars, a hammock, built in mini trampoline, a rock climbing walls, nature logs to balance on and lots of space for children of different ages to explore, climb and play.
One of the biggest wins for parents is that the playground is now fully fenced, making it much easier to keep an eye on little ones while they play. And there are toilets!
The upgrades don’t stop there. Families can also enjoy:
- A shade sail over parts of the playground, plus additional trees being planted
- Picnic shelters and accessible seating
- Electric BBQ facilities
- New pathways linking the playground with the oval’s walking circuit
The surrounding oval remains a fantastic place for a kick of the footy, flying a kite or burning off extra energy, while the nearby bike track continues to be a favourite with younger riders.
As part of the project, environmental improvements have also been completed, including stormwater harvesting for irrigation and water quality upgrades to help protect local waterways.
Whether you’re planning a weekend picnic, looking for somewhere new to explore or simply need a great playground to add to your regular rotation, Edward Bennett Oval looks set to become a favourite all over again.
