The Matthew Pearce Public School P&C Association (P&C) successfully operates a Canteen and Uniform Shop. The P&C employs staff on a casual basis to work within these operations. We are seeking to recruit some additional canteen and uniform shop staff as well as a P&C business manager that overseas the operations and staff.
Canteen operations are Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 2:30pm. The shifts include a 8:30am – 2:30pm shift and a combination of shorter shifts of 7:30am – 10:30am and 8:15am – 11:15am. There are a number of shifts available and are shared amongst our team. We work flexibly to help accommodate the availability of the staff.
The Uniform shop opens on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 9:30am. After the Uniform Shop closes, managers remain onsite until 11.00am to fill online orders and undertake stock management.
Main roles and responsibilities of the canteen and uniform shop manager include:
- Managing food preparation, ensuring that food hygiene requirements are observed.
- Processing of the daily lunch orders and uniform shop orders.
- Managing and ordering stock.
- Completing the daily banking.
- Upholding the policies of the Canteen and Uniform Shop and liaising with relevant members of the School Executive, P&C and school community on matters relating to the Canteen and Uniform Shop.
Main roles and responsibilities of the P&C Business Manager:
- Management of canteen staff, uniform staff & volunteers.
- Responsibility for the Canteen and Uniform Shop operations.
- Effective communication with all stake holders including School/Parents/Students.
- Management of manuals, policies and procedures.
- Financial management and record keeping
- Working with the P&C to ensure the businesses operate profitably.
To be considered for the roles you must be able to demonstrate capacity to meet the following criteria:
- Safe Food Handling requirements
- Experience and success in customer service
- Experience and success in stock ordering and management
- Highly developed communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
- Demonstrated Computer literacy
For the P&C Business Manager role you must be able to further demonstrate the following criteria:
- Experience in the management of staff
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan and organise day-to-day operations of the Canteen and Uniform Shop including financial management and understanding of WHS principles
- Ensuring compliance with the NSW Healthy School Canteen and food handling regulations.
Staff are employed under the Fast-Food Industry Award MA000003 and General Retail Industry Aware 2010 MA000004.
