Warami brings together a program of events and activities celebrating traditional and contemporary First Nations culture in the City of Parramatta.

Warami (pronounced Wuh-rah-mee) is a Dharug word meaning ‘good to see you’. Calling Parramatta home for over 60,000 years, Warami recognises the Burramattagal people’s connection to the land and community.

Burramatta NAIDOC on 13 July will feature a major outdoor concert with workshops and market stalls!

Bring your family and friends to a free outdoor festival celebrating First Nations culture with a concert headlined by Jk-47, workshops, dance performances and market stalls.

  • Watch the live music program headlined by hip hop artist JK-47 on the main stage.
  • Shop for art, clothes and jewellery at the market stalls.
  • Enjoy the workshops and traditional dance.
  • Entertain the kids with free activities.
  • Grab lunch from the food trucks.

 

Join in the immersive experience as the vibrant culture and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is celebrated.

The theme for 2024 National NAIDOC Week is ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud’, honouring the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture.

Music and Dance

The line up on the concert stage is stacked with talent. Catch Jada Weazel, Kootsie Don, and Blanche headlined by hip hop legend JK-47.

Jannawi Dance Clan will be performing traditional dance styles and the MC will be Akala Newman.

Market Stalls and Food

Shop for something special amongst the market stalls offering a selection of art, jewellery and clothing. From exquisite traditional hand-crafted pieces to bold, contemporary designs, there’s something unique for everyone.

Food trucks on site will be offering delicious hot food like dumplings, gozleme and jaffles, as well as coffee and cold drinks.

Workshops and Activities

Explore the rich diversity of First Nations tradition with some inspiring workshops including:

  • Wandana Aboriginal Education artefact talks, deep listening and art.
  • Native floral displays with Flowers by Mercedes.
  • Learn about bush plants and food with The Green Prescription.

Keep the family entertained with games and sport activities from Active Parramatta.

All workshops and activities are free to participate but get there early so you don’t miss out.
