Set on 16 hectares of parkland in the middle of Baulkham Hills, Balcombe Heights Estate has a rich history including being an orphanage and school for the many children left parentless by the first world war and a Rehabilitation Hospital during World War 2. Several of the historical buildings still exist and with the addition of sporting ovals, playgrounds, a skate park, an off-lead dog area and BBQ facilities, the site continues to be a popular recreational facility for local Hills District families.
Balcombe Heights Estate has something for everyone. There are two large sporting fields, a brand new farm-themed playground for younger kids, some larger, older equipment for bigger kids, a brand new skate park, walking paths, off leash dog area, toilets, BBQs and picnic tables.
The brand new playground is super cute and includes a tractor-themed multi-play unit with a slide, climbing rope net, swing set, sheep spring rider, rooster statue and windmill.
Just next to this is the equipment best suited to older kids, with a big climbing frame and slide covered by a shade sail. This is handy if you have kids of multiple ages who are at different stages.
The skate park was refreshed in 2021 and is the largest skate park in the Hills. It features include a 22m long bowl and a free skating area that includes various transitions, banks, a kicker ramp and central spine with ledge, combination grind rails and pump hump. We assume skaters will know exactly what all these are! It’s suitable for more advanced skaters.
