A basket swing, table tennis table, kickabout space, a play unit with a rock climbing wall and slide are just some of the items available at the new Half Penny Avenue Reserve in Kellyville. And if that isn’t enough, this is potentially the only playground in the Hills that comes with views! There’s even two purpose built recliners in the park to allow you to enjoy those views in comfort.

The new Reserve, located on the corner of Half Penny Avenue and Water Creek Boulevard, was opened to the community in May 2018.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said Half Penny Avenue is a great new addition to The Hills’ extensive park network. “I am so pleased with this fantastic new community facility,” Mayor Byrne said.  “Council is committed to providing more play spaces that allow children and their imaginations to grow, while encouraging residents to lead healthy and active lives,” Mayor Byrne added.

Other features of the Reserve include:

  • Bench seating;
  • Picnic settings with shelter;
  • Bubbler with dog drinking fountain;
  • Access paths and planting;
  • Shade sail over the playground;
  • Triple bay swing set with toddler swing; and
  • Spinner.

Positives – shade, plenty of green space, great little local playground.

Things to keep in mind – not fenced, no toilets, play equipment has a ladder to slide rather than stairs which could be tricky for little ones and wear closed shoes as the flooring is bark.
