Rouse Hill has a few cool play options for families. Some little playgrounds have been refurbished but there’s definitely potential to improve a few others in this suburb – fingers crossed!

Parks and Playgrounds: Rouse Hill

Rouse Hill Regional Park

Rouse Hill Regional Park makes for a perfect family day out. Kids can explore the revitalised nature playground, ride bikes or scooters around the paths, play ball games or relax at the picnic shelters. There’s something for everyone. Plus, the park is dog-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged friends along to walk beside you, but they’ll need to be on a leash at all times.

The revitalised playground is very much a natural space which suits the surrounds, with logs, tunnels, a bridge and tree stumps to traverse and explore. There’s a flying fox, swings, climbing frame, musical components and great picnic huts and bbq facilities right by the playground.

Once your kids have explored the playground you can take a short brisk walk along Second Ponds Creek. There’s plenty of shade along this mostly flat walking track, so it’s a good one for a sunny day. Be sure to look and listen out for the birds along the way. You’re sure to feel energised after a little dose of nature. The walk starts from Rouse Hill Park playground and is a 1km loop.

There’s a big green oval right next to the playground to kick a ball or throw a frisbee.

Bara Way Reserve Playground (within Ironbark Ridge Reserve)

This whole area has so much potential but the playground upgrade which was completed in January 2024 is underwhelming. We can only assume this may be due to the area being prone to flood and when we last visited the whole playground was full of puddles.

Playground aside, the reserve is a lovely green space. It’s a large park with huge green spaces surrounded by trees, many picnic shelters, and has great paths for walking or cycling.

Mungerie Playground, Bellcast Road

This is a cute little playground but it’s now starting to look a bit tired. It has a slippery dip, cubby house, sand pit and climbing net. There are paths for scooters and it’s next to a cafe, so that’s a fairly large plus.

Aberdour Village Reserve Playground

Aberdour Village Reserve is a new playground located within walking distance of both Rouse Hill Public School and Rouse Hill Village. The playground features swings, a see-saw, pirouette spinner, cubix tunnel, double slide, challenge ladder, rockwall, jumping jacks and a two-metre commando tube. This one gives us Minecraft vibes!

McGilvray Place Reserve Playground

The new playground now boasts a range of updated facilities, including a multi-play unit with slide, double compact swing, inclusive rocker, and climbing equipment. It is shaded by trees.

Play: Rouse Hill Town Centre

There are a couple of great play areas at Rouse Hill Town Centre.

Located in the Coles quad next to Oliver Brown, The Backyard is great for age 2 and up to about 8 years of age. Fully fenced (although older kids could probably scale it) this is a great play area for kids to explore and climb.

The Play Terrace is another area for younger children to climb, explore and imagine in a safe, open air environment. This undercover playground fence and soft fall for your piece of mind. Located in the Woolworths Quad, at the back of the food terrace

And in lieu of any water play parks in Rouse Hill, many a young child has had a play in the fountains at Rouse Hill Town Centre too!

Play centre: Rouse Hill

Croc’s Playcentre Rouse Hill

Playcentres provide a great entertainment option any day of the week, but particularly when it’s raining or really cold or hot. Once you’re inside you can relax and not worry about getting wet, muddy, sunburnt, covered in sand – the list goes on. Croc’s Playcentre Rouse Hill has good equipment for kids of different ages. There’s a separate toddlers area which is great for slightly smaller kids who get a little nervous about the bigger slides, and mums who worry about their smaller child getting knocked about or stuck. There’s also a small jumping castle which toddlers would love, as well as some free range trikes for them to zip around on!

You can read more about it here.

Pubs with playgrounds: Rouse Hill

The Australian Brewery – 350 Annangrove Road, Rouse Hill

A family favourite in the Hills, the Brewery has kids play area for young ones to explore. There’s a small area for toddlers and a larger area for bigger kids. It does get busy so you need to keep an eye on things. Read more here.

The Fiddler – Commercial & Windsor Roads, Rouse Hill

The Fiddler refurbed its play area a while back and shade sails have also been added.
