Fire Station Open Day. Saturday 18 May, 10am – 2pm.
Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) will hold its annual Open Day on Saturday 18 May 2019 with fire stations across the State giving visitors a personal glimpse into Australia’s busiest fire and rescue service. They will have the opportunity to hop on a fire truck and chat with firefighters to learn more about what they do every day.
Open Day includes safety demonstrations, fire station tours and the chance to inspect equipment and trucks used by our firefighters when responding to all kinds of fire and rescue emergencies. There will also be an array of activities for all children who attend.
It’s a great time to also speak to firefighters first-hand about fire safety in the home, including how to install and maintain smoke alarms and how to develop a home escape plan to ensure they can quickly and safely escape in the event of a fire.
Participating locations include: Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Beecroft, Seven Hills, Parramatta, Schofields, Riverstone, Blacktown, Windsor and Hornsby Stations all participated in the Open Day. More details can be found here.
Hawkesbury Regional Museum Open Day. Saturday 18 May. 10am – 4pm.
Come along to Hawkesbury Regional Museum on Saturday, 18 May from 10am-4pm to celebrate the Museum’s 11th birthday! The free event will also celebrate International Museum Day and the National Trust Heritage Week Festival. The Open Day will showcase local heritage, with a Welcome to Country, free tours of historical Howe House, historical group displays, a free sausage sizzle, kids’ activities and live music.

Blacktown City Medieval Fayre. Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19. Nurragingy Reserve.
Immerse yourself in medieval culture with the birds of prey show, medieval displays, combat artillery, handmade arts and crafts, free camel and pony rides and working blacksmith hut.
The Jousting Competition will once again be the highlight of the 2019 event with riders from around the country seeking to claim the prestigious title.
Visitors will experience the excitement of living history at its best and all spectators are encouraged to come dressed in their favourite medieval attire and participate in the best dressed competition.
